How does Ace of Fades hair replacement work?
Your professional stylist Marcos Monje, owner of Ace of Fades, who is a professionally-trained master barber and expert in hair replacement, will assess your thinning areas to determine and personalize a hair replacement for you. Hair that matches your exact color, texture, curl pattern, and density will then be attached.
How long does a hair system installation or touch-up/maintenance take?
A typical hair system installation at Ace of Fades 212 takes around 1 to 3 hours. This includes preparation, blending, and styling to ensure the most natural finish possible.
How long does a hair system last?
Most hair systems last 3 to 6 months, depending on the type of unit, adhesive used, and your maintenance routine. Regular touch-ups every 2–4 weeks keep it secure and fresh-looking.
Can I bring my own Hair System at Ace of Fades?
Yes, absolutely. Unlike many other hair system salons in NYC, Ace of Fades 212 proudly allows clients to bring their own hair systems for installation or maintenance. Whether you’ve already purchased your unit elsewhere or have one you love, we’ll take care of the installation with the same precision and attention to detail as our in-house systems.
How often do I need maintenance?
We recommend scheduling hair system maintenance every 2 to 4 weeks to clean the scalp, reapply adhesive, and restyle your unit. This keeps it secure, comfortable, and natural.
Will anyone be able to tell I’m wearing a hair system?
Not at all. When installed by professionals, the hairline and density match your natural texture so precisely that it looks completely undetectable—even up close.
Is a deposit required when scheduling an appointment?
Yes, deposits for services are required. Due to the high demand and necessary preparation before your appointment, Ace of Fades requires a nonrefundable deposit to be paid before booking.

How much does Hair System Installation cost in NYC?
Pricing varies depending on the type of unit and services. We offer full installations starting from $750 and self-provided installs at a lower rate. You can view our full service menu and book online here.
Do you offer private appointments?
Yes, we will happily provide a private environment in the studio upon request.
What is the process for booking an appointment?
To secure your appointment, you will need to provide clear pictures of the top and sides of your head. This will enable Marcos to assess your needs accurately. In addition, send a picture of your desired hairstyle. For optimal results, your natural hair should be at least 3/4 of an inch, allowing for proper blending with the hair unit.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

At Ace of Fades 212, we understand that unexpected situations can arise, requiring you to cancel or reschedule your appointment. We strive to be flexible and accommodating, which is why we have a cancellation policy in place. However, we value our new clients and want to ensure a positive experience from the start. That’s why we offer a first-time waiver of the cancellation fee.
Our standard cancellation policy is as follows: You can cancel or reschedule your appointment up to 48 hours in advance there is no refund. This allows us to manage our schedule effectively and offer our services to other clients. In the event that you fail to provide a 48-hour notice, there is cancellation fee.
For our new clients: We are pleased to offer a one-time waiver of the cancellation fee. This means that if it’s your first booking with us and you need to cancel or reschedule, we will waive the cancellation fee, regardless of the notice period. We want to provide you with the opportunity to experience our services without any financial consequences if unforeseen circumstances arise.
We believe in open communication and appreciate your understanding of the importance of timely notice for cancellations. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can accommodate your needs and make necessary adjustments to our schedule.

How am I supposed to care for and maintain my hair replacements?
We recommend that clients return for maintenance every two to three weeks, or at most, once a month. For more information, please refer to Booking & Maintenance.
Are there special requirements for first-time clients?
Yes. Services for first time clients such as new installations and touch-ups do require deposits and first-time clients will be required to read and sign Ace of Fades Liability Waiver.
How is the hair unit attached?
A properly attached hair system will remain secure on your head for weeks, withstanding all your daily activities such as bathing, showering, going to the gym, swimming, dancing, and even walking in strong winds. The base is attached to your head using your preferred method (tape or adhesive) and is then cut and blended to be undetectable. Our hair systems are designed to handle situations that cause sweating. During the consultation, Marcos will discuss your profession, lifestyle, and suggest solutions tailored to fit your life and requirements to ensure the hair system meets all your needs.
How do I sleep with my hair unit on?
You can sleep wearing your hair unit with a bandana or a durag to cover your hair at night (the bandana or durag shouldn’t be tied too tight.) Durags are available for purchase in our product shop.
